Mission

optometrist

The Pre-Optometry Club intends to create a community and resources for students who wish to apply to optometry school. Resources include information about optometry school admission processes and requirements, information about the profession of optometry and the Optometry Admissions Test. The community consists of a group of undergraduate students and alumni who wish to apply to optometry school. Within this community, members can discuss differences between schools, their views on optometry as a profession, tools in studying for the OATs, and other such topics.

We always plan the following activities:

Undergraduate Planning Night – An informative night in which we discuss prerequisite courses, when to take them, what courses can help boost your GPA, etc. Come discuss with us and others how to plan your path to Optometry.

Guest Speakers – Doctors of Optometry, optometry students, and directors of admissions from various schools are invited to speak to our members  about the school they represent, the program, the application process, the profession, lifestyle, and will be available to answer any further questions. Other speakers include professionals in vision science.

Visiting Trip to an Optometric Institution (U.S or Canada) – We annually plan to take a trip and visit an Optometry school in the United States or Canada. There we meet with the school’s Admissions Director and go on a tour.
